Wisdom teeth

Wisdom teeth typically erupt between the ages of 17 and 25.

In many cases, problems with erupting wisdom teeth occur due to lack of space as well as incorrect position and shape of a wisdom tooth. Wisdom tooth misalignment can lead to dental caries, painful local inflammations or the development of cysts in the jawbone. In most cases, early removal of wisdom teeth that are causing or could cause problems is highly recommended.

The right time to have your wisdom teeth removed is in your late teens when tooth roots are not yet so strong. It is easiest to pull out wisdom teeth that have fully erupted. In the event of impacted wisdom teeth (wisdom teeth not fully erupted into the mouth), surgical methods are used for their removal.
